Artist: Daz Dillinger
Track Name: Deathrow Records Stole From Me
AH Track Rating:
Really is disappointing to hear this happened. Daz Dillinger is telling his story, in a new ‘diss track’ at his cousin Snoop, and Deathrow Records. On this track, Daz refers to him as Snoop Knight. It’s pretty well known that Suge wasn’t above board in his business dealings, and Daz says nothing has changed. New CEO, same ole shit.
Sadly, the new CEO is family – It really be your own people …
What Daz said in an interview released just a few days before – he explains the contract he was asked to sign, was faulty. It was going to steal his rights to the dogg pound logo, the paw, that he wisely trademarked years ago. There’s a lot of ‘business lessons’ to be found in this drama for up and coming Producers and MCs. Besides the we should move in more positive ways, especially with relatives. Other than, stealing isn’t cool.
The lesson is to protect your neck!
Always cover your own ass. Daz drew the paw, and knew it was worth something. Long before anyone else believed, he did. That’s another lesson to take from all this nonsense, cause that’s what it is. Believe in yourself!
Daz, who is easily one of the most talented producers in hip hop history, would be nothing but an asset to a label that Snoop is trying to raise from the dead. Instead of coming at him in a legit way, with respect for who he is, they tried to do him like a novice. Then when he wouldn’t cooperate with the low balling, they kicked him off the label.
As far as this single, “Deathrow Records Stole From Me”, we are giving it 3 fires …
Production on the track is solid as usual, and lyrically Daz is on point. I’m not sure he should be singing, but hey, it does lighten the mood. Cause we see this happen time and time again in the ‘industry’, and it’s never cool. We hate to see family put ‘money’ over blood. Even worse, we hate to see family steal or attempt to steal from family. For those who did not see the ‘interview’, here it is below: Daz says a lot of things that we’ve been talking about since launching this website. Artists do not need these record labels. All rappers & producers these days should be seeking to sell directly to their fans. Contact us, if you need help with that.
