Playing No Games With You … Nipsey & YG Last Time I Checc’d

"Last Time That I Checc'd" by Nipsey Hussle

AH Video Review Rated:

First and foremost, I thought I had a review of this up on here already. That I’ve waited until ‘now’ … I must apologize. Even though the site is in ‘beta’ still, and just testing out a few things we want to do with this content. That being said, rest in power Nipsey Hussle. Last time That I Checked, still no smut on your rep!

We lost the “Voice of the West” this year; on the last day of March … smh.

A coward in a matter of seconds, took out someone who has been more than influential in the Los Angeles area.  He was much more than a gangster though, it’s clear he represented his hood. Never forgetting where he came from, he launched a successful career, and made his hood the headquarters. Living everything he’s showing in this video, including the Corner of Crenshaw and Slauson, where  The Marathon Clothing Store, will remain, as an inspiration.

Featuring YG, who also represents his hood. For the most part, here in Los Angeles, it really is peaceful. But every now and then, still way too often, violence erupts.  As I’ve written on other entires in ‘tales from the hood’, these streets have been crying out for help, for decades now. Sadly, in his death, some people are saying ‘well he talked about gang banging .. and he lived that life … so ….’

That kind of talk is unfortunate. Especially when it comes from men and women who look like Nipsey Hussle, YG, and the people they are all actually looking to better, and improve. What we saw in this video, from the Grammy Nominated Album “Victory Lap”, was a real celebration of the dreams of all who are living in the hood. America ignores the hoods, and leaves them open to be preyed upon. Most misinformed, do not understand the origin of Gangs in Los Angeles, and fail to see them as victims.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, there have always been people like Nipsey Hussle. The ones who earned respect in the hood, but work to bring the hood together. That is mainly why his death is hitting so hard. This wasn’t good for the streets…. 5 cash stacks for this one…

For all the reasons …

Rolling through the streets of L.A. – repping the notorius blood and crip gangs; on a ‘set’ that blends the two together. The ‘message’ there in the visuals alone, along with featuring all the businesses on the Corner where Nipsey, unfortunately would lose his life.

Fuck wearin’ their clothes, I wear my own shit
Ya’ll can own ya’ll label, I own my own, bitch!
Aye Nip, I remember all that game you taught me
Don’t fuck around and get played by these label owners
Talk that shit to these niggas, Adrien Broner
But secure the win though, don’t let that game fold you
Cause when this game over, it’s really game over
And all they do is play the game ’til this game over
And you be givin’ game like a big brother
Mission, never let ’em take it from us – (YG on Last Time that I Checc’d)

Not only is this a dope song, the video really does bring this message home. Fuck wearing other people’s clothes. Fuck getting signed to other people’s labels. Control your entire environment. Last time that I checc’d, Nipsey succeeded doing this. Believe in yourselves, and let his life inspire you. You can succeed too – The Marathon Continues …

Never Let Em Take It From us!

YG and Nip also teamed up on “Fuck Donald Trump”…  linked up in our review of Snoop Dog’s “Final Call”
